Summer kicked so much ass I forgot to post anything.

Pretty much.  I’ll stop apologizing from now on, make absolutely no claims as to how long I’ll stay here, I might be gone for a while, but I’ll try not to.

As for whats going on, Summer rocked but was over way too fast.  I’m now living in a new apartment in Salt Lake City, and commute to the University of Utah.  Hey, its the best in Utah, plus kinda cheap since I’m a resident.

Thus far, approx. 59 Cup-O-Noodles, 49 Frozen Pizzas, 204 bowls of cereal, and well over 500 cans of Arizona’s delicious Arnold Palmer.  Greatest drink in the history of entire fucking universe IMHO

I’m actually trying to get good grades this term, so I haven’t been playing as many games or watching as many movies…well, I did, this summer, but I don’t really wanna talk about them, too lazy.

So, McCain and Palin, eh?  Wow, what a team of utter phail.  People, remember 2000?  2004?  Fix your mistake.  Vote for Obama this year, for fucks sake.

oh shit just looked at the date.   unlucky day, no?

Damn, have five months really passed that fast?

Time flies.  I’ve always had the concept of time down, but I never could quite figure out the actual process of it.  While you’re trying to figure it out, it can pick up and walk away without you.  Long story short, I’ve been busy, and completely forgot I even had an online journal, or blog, or whatever the hell you want to call it.  I’m not going to lie and say all I’ve been doing is schoolwork, but I will tell you it has been an interesting 2008.  Very, very interesting and different.  This isn’t going to be a long post, because I hate those.  But, now that I’m back, lets take a look at my screaming, angry fans!

yay

Damn, nevermind then.  With fans like these…

In other news, college is pretty fun now.  I’ve met a lot more people, I’m generally socializing more, and getting more into my studies.  I don’t spend as much time on the internet or playing games as I used to, but I’m sure summer will change all that.

Besides that, theres not a whole lot on my mind.  I WILL update more often, but Christ, I sure forgot about this place fast early this year…scary.  I will try not to do that again.

Thoughts of a New Year.

Yup, check your calendar. Its 2008! We’re nearing the close of the first decade of the new Millennium. Doesn’t it feel magical? No? Thats because it isn’t. Its the same world with the same people and the same problems. But with new trends! Personally, I’m not aware of these. Instead, I shall make a list! We all love lists, amirite? Best of the year lists, especially. Which is what mine is! Lucky you.

Go See One of the Greatest Movies of the Year or Else I Will Hurt You

Cormac McCarthy is a brilliant author, a practitioner of a writing style not unlike that of Melville or Faulkner, with a flowing quality while showing the stark harshness of some peoples lives. A truly great author, one of my favorites, so much so that I can recommend his books to anyone who can read. His second to latest opus was one titled No Country for Old Men, an evocative study into the case of human nature wrapped around a thrilling chase plot. The book is great, no doubt, but did you know that a movie based on it was just released? No, I don’t think you did, because otherwise you would have seen it. And if you did know about it and did not pay your $6.50, shame on you. In the following, I will describe quite possibly my movie of the year.

Yet another complaint.

I loved Bioshock. Critics loved Bioshock. It seemed as though everyone loved Bioshock, just as they should! It is a magnificent shooter, but it is so much more than just a shooter. It has elements of an RPG, with choices, and consequences to your choices. A lengthy single-player game set in the brilliant and beautiful world of Rapture, Bioshock had just about everything. Add in an exceptional backstory and plot and you have yourself a true Game of the Year candidate. Unfortunately, that just isn’t enough for some people.

Hobo Killin’ Time

Just recently, as in within the last few days, I beat the 360 game Condemned. Yes, I know, its been a while since it came out, but I saw it in my backlog a few months ago and gave it a try. Yes, I know some people refer to it as “that hobo killing simulator”, and for the most part, they are correct. You kill a lot of homeless people in this game, but it is the context, not the content, that really connected with me. Read on to find out more.

Phourglass

This last week, I’ve been playing The Legend of Zelda; Phantom Hourglass, a game that, on hindsight, I didn’t play due to any form of excitement for, merely out of a sense of obligation. “Hey, listen! You have a DS, buy Zelda! Nownownow!” screams the Navi doll I have sitting on my shoulder for some reason. So, acting out as the good Nintendo fanboy, I grudgingly give the clerk my money and receive the most hallowed of all hallows. A new Zelda! Sequel to Wind Waker! Controlled with a stylus! I cannot wait to try this new form of bliss-in-a-cartridge. I put it in, and….nothing new.

Good Movies I Have Just Seen

This is my coming out party, my ode, if you will, to profess my undying love of all things Wes Anderson, the brilliant film-maker. If you have not heard of this man, do not fret! Wes is a forgiving God, provided you go see The Darjeeling Limited immediately. Again, if you have not heard of that film, then we have a problem. Look it up, fools, and if you’re too lazy to do that, just read on.

When did you think last?

In all seriousness here, I’m freaking out. Here I am, a month and half away from home, and I just barely realized I’m in college. I’m an adult (kinda). I can stay up as late as I want. I can eat, study, even go to class whenever, if I want to. And you know what? Being the rebel that I am, I’m not doing any of the shit in my high school vow, a vow to slack off when I get to college. Believe it or not, I’m going to bed at a reasonably hour, I’m eating healthier than I ever have, and I haven’t missed a class yet. What the hell has happened to me!?

I am not angry, or pissed off, or frustrated in any way today, so if you glanced by my site hoping for some stupid geeks rants, you’re apt to be disappointed. Instead, I want to honor one of my favorite games of all time: Chrono Cross
